Enhancements and Validations in Development

Important:  We post our plans for upcoming enhancement and fixes well in advance of their delivery to help system-to-system service providers plan for their own development efforts. We try our best to keep these documents current as our plans evolve. Please keep in mind that these are *draft* documents and are subject to change at any time. 

Which opportunities are processed by NIH eRA systems/services?

We process applications posted in Grants.gov under the following Grants.gov agency codes:

• HHS-NIH11
• HHS-AHRQ
• HHS-CDC-HHSCDCERA
• HHS-FDA
• HHS-SAMHS-SAMHSA
• DOC-DOCNOAAERA
• DOD-USUHS-ERA
• VA-ORD

The XML Extract that Grants.gov publishes daily includes agency code ("HHS-NIH11") and agency name ("National Institutes of Health") information. Although NIH posts all opportunities under the same agency code and agency name, others may have one agency name used for multiple agency codes.

Draft eSubmission Validations - April 15, 2024

Validations targeted for release to Ext-UAT and Production environments on April 17, 2024

FORMS-I

NIH will be transitioning to FORMS-I application forms packages for due dates on or after January 25, 2025 (NOT-OD-24-086). The updated forms will support a number of NIH initiatives with 2025 effective dates (NOT-OD-24-084).

Testing Targets

• Access to Grants.gov XML schemas by mid-summer 2024
• End-to-end user testing in Ext-UAT with a full suite of test opportunities by September 2024

Posting Notes

• FORMS-I packages will be available in production opportunities no earlier than October 2024 for use with due dates on or after January 25, 2025
• During the transition, both FORMS-H and FORMS-I packages will be active and must be supported simultaneously
